Who we are
ClearCare is an independent information and guidance service that helps families in England understand and compare adult social care options. ClearCare is not a care provider, does not employ carers, and does not arrange or refer placements.
What data we collect
We collect a small amount of data, only what is needed to make the service work:
- Anonymous session data — a randomly generated identifier so we can understand how the service is being used.
- Postcode outward code only — for example, “SW1” rather than your full postcode. We use this to find services near you.
- Care Record account details — if you choose to create one, your email address and a hashed password.
- Shortlist contents — the providers you have saved.
- Enquiry submissions — the name, email and message you send to a provider.
- Event logs — actions like viewing a Care Option or saving a provider, used to improve the service.
How your data is stored
Data is stored securely on Lovable Cloud, which is hosted in the EU West (Ireland) region. Connections to our service are encrypted in transit, and stored data is encrypted at rest.
What we do not collect
- We do not store your full postcode.
- We do not send marketing emails. Ever.
- We do not collect or share data with third-party advertisers.
- We do not use tracking cookies for advertising.
Use of the Claude API
When you generate a Care Record summary, a short summary of your shortlist (provider names, ratings and care types) is sent server-side to Anthropic's Claude API to produce the summary text. No other data — and no personally identifying details beyond what you have explicitly saved to your shortlist — is ever sent.
Use of Plausible Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to understand which pages are visited and how people move through the service. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track users across other websites.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Be informed about what data we hold about you.
- Access a copy of your data.
- Have inaccurate data corrected.
- Have your data deleted.
- Restrict or object to how we process your data.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
How to request data deletion
Email privacy@careclear.co.uk and we will delete your Care Record account and any associated data within 30 days.
An important note
ClearCare is an information service, not a care provider. We do not make referrals, accept payment from providers, or charge users.
